Hello all
I have a Hauppauge HVR-1110 digital and analogue tuner on a PC running Windows 7. When trying to get the composite or s-video line in working through media centre (by virtue of setting up a set top box) I am halted by an error saying "IR hardware required" or something to that effect. Although I have a windows USB IR receiver, I do not have the blaster required for Media Centre to be able to change the settings on the STB.
From reading on various forums like the Green Button and the Australian Media Centre community, this is a well documented problem and there is no simple fix other than getting the IR blaster - either the original microsoft or possible the hauppauge stand alone MCE remote. Has anyone had success otherwise? It's a pointless requirement really.
I have also heard you can faux-install the IR blaster driver and do a quick regedit to fool Media Centre into thinking you have the blaster but this may disable the current remote - something I'd rather not do.
Failing software work-arounds can someone recommend a suitable IR blaster/receiver that uses the same driver as the MS unit?
Cheers
