I'm having major signal problem on Mysky when switching from AV to HDMI - like 2 mins of blank screen. Once it finally talks, works ok as long as I don't surf. Next Elect has checked my Philips and says it is Mysky not the screen? I have a new Mysky box but doesnt help. I used another Philips set and it worked fine(different model though) so I'm left holding the baby!

Anyone have an idea?

Does the time it takes for a picture depend on the Sky channel you are on? I'm wondering if it's possibly a HDCP negotiation issue.

I you perform a simple test and and set your Sky STB to Prime and then switch the TV to the HDMI input do you get a delay?

If you try the same scenario but use Sky Movies do you get a delay?

No the delay seems to be the same from whichever status you attempt to switch back INTO HDMI. I only have a couple of seconds delay going the other way!
At the repair shop, they only use Freeview, and on that system evrything seemed to work fine both ways. Maybe the signal type from Freeview and Mysky are different.

How old is the TV? Did you ask them if any firmware upgrades were available for the TV?

It definately sounds like a HDMI/HDCP initialisation issue.

just had the upgrade to the Philips. Its only 14 mths old! It looks like an initialisation issue to me but I'm no techo. The problem is identifying the guilty party i.e TV or MySky. They each say its the other and going around in smaller circles!

Their have been numerous issues in recent years with HDMI incompatability issues. Pioneer had egg on their face when Sky UK rolled out an update that caused continual issues with signal loss over HDMI and it took months for them to release a firmware upgrade for their Plasma's - an issue that has even affected users here in NZ with MySky HDi and required a firmware update to the TV.

The reality is finding who to blame is no simple task however I'd be putting my money on it being a Philips issue.

Just one thing that could be worth trying is a different HDMI cable. I'm sure Next could lend you one for testing.

Ureka. For any one else having this problem , it is a simple fix!

On the MySky settings box there is a screen definition function for "autoselect" or manual. This doesn't work with some of the Philips models apparently, so you have to set the definition to manual and then evrything works perfectly!

So easy but so hard to find the advice for the conflict.
