Looks interesting - The new Tvix 6500a Available with dual NZ Freeview|HD tuners and optional 1TB or 1.5TB hard disk turning the media player into a set-top box and PVR.

$699 for the media player with dual Freeview|HD tuners, and add your own disk, or $879 with a 1TB disk installed. It's good to see more competition in the Freeview|HD PVR field. However, no mention of MHEG-5 EPG, so I presume it's not supported - and that's a big drawback.

It supports a load of formats. I guess it is linux or windows MCE based - which should make MHEG-5 support easier (from a software development point). More info can be found at the motherboard vendor:

It is linux based, but seriously locked down by DVICO who don't appear to supply any of the Linux source they use.




Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.
