Hopefully this doesn't get lost in the multitude of threads about Prime... Anyway I was looking to see whether the state of MHEG-5 support on Windows had changed and came across this. It seems DVB Viewer developers are planning to add MHEG-5 support including for NZ but they need help. Specifically they need samples of our MHEG-5 so they can test it. You can see more details http://www.dvbviewer.info/forum/index.php?showtopic=35559 here.

I myself don't use DVB-Viewer and don't even use DVB-t so can't help but I'm sure someone here can :-) Do note that I don't think they require you to be a registered customer to help and they say they will release the interpreter under GPL so it may help projects other then DVB-Viewer (although I believe MHEG-5 is already partially supported under Linux specifically in MythTV at least although I recall there may have been some standalone app as well)

GPL - Sweet, hopefully the mediaportal devs will take advantage of it.

Excuse my ignorance but i've been using DVBViewer Pro on my laptop for the last few months and have been able to watch all the FreeviewHD channels with no problems at all. So why do they need more samples to develop from? If it 'aint broke don't fix it, right?

They want to make the DVB-T guide work better - at the moment you only get now/next.

Developing a MHEG module will allow for the full 7 day guide.

Ahh i got ya. I don't use the guide on the laptop so that'd be why i've never had a problem with it. Will see if i get time tonight to get some samples together for him to use if he still needs them.

MHEG5 isn't just for the EPG. It also delivers red button functionality and is capable of plenty more.

Interactive ads! Additional Information. I saw something similar with the cricket in Australia, where the red button showed the score card.

as an aside, red button is very under utilised here.

The BBC use it for post race F1 stuff and spill over if they need to show more than one event
Sky UK and Fox Australia use it for on demand news.

The screenshot below was added overnight.
Cant wait to play with this.
Appears they have enough testers from NZ and now only waiting on Hong Kong users.

Any idea if they're planning on extracting the EPG data for an 8 day EPG?
