Finally got aroung to rebooting to install the new drivers...

PCI-E card is a ati 2400 which doesnt do the acceleration, so its maxing the cpu, but it looks a hell of a lot better than the onboard 3200.

On the 3200 in the onboard there seems to be no proper deinterlacing - constantly seeing horizontal lines bouncing up and down, and things splitting out on panning etc.

The card seems to be deinterlacing a hell of a lot better. What are other people seeing when watcing the interlaced channels on the 780g.

Am using windows 7 7100 and windows media center so I dont have a clue what codec etc it is using.

Also looking at the options in CCC - it seems that the 3200 has less options then the 2400 in avivo - there are 2 for the 3200 and 4 for the 2400 in deinterlacing.

Looks fine here. My soft setup is Vista 32 SP2, MP 1.0.2, PCM H.264 codec, Cat 9.7

I have four options in CCC 9.7 basic quality tab

weave, bob, adaptive, motion adaptive.

the last is selected but I have "automatic" checked.

HTPC: Antec Fusion 430, Intel i3, Gigabyte 1050, Corsair 4x1Gb, Hauppauge WinTv, Logitech z-5500, Logitech Harmony 525, Yamaha Rx-v6a, Samsung KS8000 4k, Windows 10, Mediaportal 1.30, BLU-RAY: Panasonic UB820

You didn't specify your hardware. This could be a driver issue but to get vector adaptive deinterlacing on the 3200/780G you need HyperTransport 3.0, in other words a Phenom processor (including the X2 'Phenom's i.e. 7750 etc).

If you have a HT2.0 processor, e.g. a Athlon 64 X2 6000+ or 5050e or whatever, then you can't get vector adaptive so GPU deinterlacing is never going to be great.

Also getting the deinterlacing working properly without using EVR may be difficult from my experience. So you may want to make sure DXVA is working and your using EVR. I would guess your using EVR on WMC but who knows...

I didn't test Windows 7 however and personally I don't think it's worth fooling around with 7100 too much now that RTM is out and coming in several months. You can't expect any support from AMD/ATI or Microsoft.

Ah, I do have a 6000+ X2 so that will probably be the problem.

Im gonna stick with 7100 till I manage to score a freebe of the full one, its tollerable to just bump the WMC window over to the secondary display and put up with the od lag when using the PC for now

780G works better if you overclock the HT frequency. Your HT2 = 1000Mhz, I bumped up my FSB so the HT = 1375Mhz, made the 780G work better. If you bump up the FSB then you should bump down the cpu multiplier if you don't want overclocked cpu. Increasing FSB will also overclock your ram slightly.

Interesting, does it give you vector adaptive deinterlacing? And at 1920x1080? With or without Aero?

I've often wondered if you can get it to work, I've heard it claimed you need a 1600Mhz on the HT before which seemed like it would be difficult to achieve, but that may have just been because all HT3 processors have at least 1600Mhz.

BTW there are some good 1920x1080i test patterns here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1157287 including h.264 although only for NTSC IIRC. However while the frame rate could cause some issues, you should still be able to see if vector adaptive is working. Believe me, if you have working vector adaptive comparing it to motion adaptive is simple with the test patterns.

There is a registry hack that allows the option to become selectable in CCC. To be honest i wouldn't bother, HD3200 is already fairly borderline with HT2.0 + 1080i + New versions of MP + basic deinterlacing. Easier to just add a new video card, you could spend days stuffing around trying to get it to go.
