Hi Guys,
I am having problems with Freeview, as such on bright sunny days I get perfect reception, but late nights or on cludy / rainy days the signal is too weak and the TV screen dispalys "No signal for this program". The satelite dish alignment has been checked and I don't think that is the problem, can someone tell me if this is the problem with the LNB or the satelite receiver. Basically which one equipment needs to be replaced.

well if the weather is not so good the quality of your signal will go down. Even if you setup is good, and there is a huge downpour, you will still get rain fade.

If it's your own dish, it may be worth getting the LNB replaced. These can be purchased for about $30 from Stewarts or Master Trade.

If your set top box works in fine weather it's unlikely to be that I would put it down to being one/some/all of: (in order of likelihood)

* dish alignment
* LNB
* cabling

I suggest you get an experienced Freeview satellite dish installer to check this out. The starting point is the dish orientation and signal strength and quality. He can put a meter on the dish directly to measure the last two and find out if this is the cause of your problem. Thereafter it could be cable fault, connections or a myriad of other problems. Did you install the dish yourself or was it done professionally? If it was done professionally, get the same guy back - he might not charge you.

You may also need a larger dish, are there any trees between your dish and the sky?
