Hi all,

Is there is a list of Freeview Approved boxes that support 5.1 surround?
I've had a look at a few of them and the most they seem to support is 2 channel.

Thanks.

What boxes did you look at? My understanding is the only Freeview approved DVB-T box that doesn't have SPDIF output is the $199 Sanyo that The Warehouse are selling.

Yeah the Sanyo was one of them and the JC Matthews one looks to be in the same boat also

The Freeview website says the JC Matthew one has SPDIF. I just actually clicked on all of them and the only one that doesn't list SPDIF is the Teac. The Satmax also does 5.1 over HDMI which was news to me.

yeah I loaded up the user guide for the JC Matthew one and there is no reference to 5.1 or AC3, just says 2 channel stereo

The will only decode stereo, they will output the bitstream via optical for you to decode later. Its like all the "2 channel" dvd players you see around the place.
