ok has anyone here got one and do you suffer from any of these symptoms ??

1: Random resets
2: Random Lockups
3: Chanels not changing pressing the ch up/down changes chanel number on but not actually changing the chanel
4: Picture Freezing but still have sound

this is the second settop box from Havey Normans to do this they thought it might be that the signal is crappy, have tried another brand sat reciver and guess what no lockups or resets at all for a week and the hills box being used elsewhere has done it 2 or 3 times already.

Athlonite: so noone here has ever had a problem with there hills HSM0075

Hi Athlonite,

Maybe no-one on the forum uses a Hills HSM0075! - or if they do then they're the lucky people who got a good one!

I have come across numerous faulty Hills HSM0075 receivers and several users who've thrown them away in disgust and bought another brand. In addition to your problems another common one is that the pix come up in black & white for a second or so each time you change channels.

They seem to give more trouble off a Sky dual LNB for some reason (even when the dish and LNB are perfectly aligned).

However, I also have customers who have been happily watching their Hills receiver for over two years without any problems at all!

So, I guess, my suggestion is to try a couple more from Harvey Norman before pulling the plug.

Cheers,  Wild Bill.

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Kinda - Picture freezing but no sound.

The HSM075 is a piece of junk - I replaced it with a Strong box and my only regret is that I should have done it earlier instead of putting up with the Hills crap for so long.

Hi,
I have had exactly all those problems you have listed. I bought mine just over a year ago and just put up with it ever since the problems appeared about 4 months into it. All this time the signal quality has been good. I am so fed-up with it now because after it asked to be allowed to download updated software, I had more grief and that has persisted even after I did a reset. I want to take it back because it now can't seem to lock onto a good quality signal even though the signal strength is high. I don't know what my chances will be because JB HiFi will want a receipt........

I've never had it do that "it asked to be allowed to download updated software" as far as i was aware there is no new firmware/software for it

Just seen this thread. I have one of these boxes and do experience all of those problems, but not very often. Having said that the random resets do appear to have picked up in frequency lately.

I've always assumed it's an overheating problem - the cabinet the receiver is in doesn't have a lot of room. Whenever there's been a problem, I've found the unit has been quite hot. I tend to always have the cabinet door ajar because of this, even when I'm not watching TV and maybe that's why I've had a low incidence of problems.

One thing which has annoyed me from time-to-time is the unit no longer loading an EPG. The only way I've been able to fix it is via a factory reset. My unit is probably 2.5 years old.

I got the impression that Zinwell boxes were not much better? (although I have never owned one).
