I've noticed The Warehouse have the SANYO TUHD1010 DVB-T STB on sale until the 24th for $169 (usually $199), I've been looking around and trying to figure out if these are any good or at least as good as the popular Zinwell models, being reasonability tight in the cash department I wanted to see if any other geekzoners would comment on the quality (build, picture, audio, user friendly, remote etc).

I'd prefer to buy new as the 12 month warranty is useful in case it goes faulty, and looking at some other forums they go faulty quite often.

Apart from the thread about TV3 Picture disappearing, it looks like that is the only reported problem.

Appreciate your feedback.

I've got a Draco HDTV5500 which the Sanyo is based on. I would definitly recommend it. The picture/sound quality is amazing and it's very easy to set up and use. The remote is a bit cheap looking but works well as long as it's pointed directly at the box.

What's the delay like when changing channels?

I've got it set to output each channels native resolution and it takes about 1-2 secs if the resolution is the same and about 3-4 secs if the resolution is different. The extra time is down to my tv changing from 1080i, 720p & 576i.

Didn't know the Sanyo was based on the Draco 5500 !

Does the Sanyo have native resolution passthrough of the video like the Draco ?

I got it for $169 from the Warehouse but, as you metioned, I could not figure out the problem of losing pictures on a coupole of channels (including TV3). And yesterday I have returned it to the Warehouse and got the DSE G7503 from the Dick Smith for $248. The DSE G703 gives me perfect picutres on all channels and it includes a HDMI cable out of the box.

So no HDMI cable then? was the unit faulty or are you in poor coverage area?

The Sanyo one does not have the HDMI camble with it and I got one seperately for $28.

I think it was the faulty of the Sanyo box - my area has a very good UHF signal receiving and the DSE works perfectly with the same aerial.
