Just got a lg tv in my apartment in wellington plugged the coax into the fitted tv socket in the apartment and  it picks up uhf channels fine, when i go to scan for dvb channels and finds nothing? Shouldnt it find freeview if it picks up uhf channels crystal clear?

Odds are the Freeview channels are probably being used or blocked by the distribution system in the building. It's a common issue.

Cyril7 might be able to offer you some more advice or help.
