Does anyone know why a splitter would stop working?

I have a Hills Signal Master Splitter (both outputs DC Pass). It was working at my previous flat, but I've moved so I took it with me, and i've just been up on the roof connecting it up, but now im getting no signal on either setbox?

Its crazy, im sure I didn't need to change any settings on the recievers....

any ideas? I only bought it a few weeks ago :(

Um there's possibly a bit more going on there.
New Flat, so new cable, new dish, does the dish have the same shaped lnb receiver on it for instance? Did you have the receivers unplugged for a while, so possibly they've lost some settings etc?

That said, yes splitters do sometimes fail like anything, but try hooking the system up one set top box at a time (with no splitter) and work testing on from there.

Hi,

The existing box in the lounge was unplugged for about a year, but me and the house owner installed a new LNB (the original was dead), and got the box all working and tuned in, signal nice and strong.

I was putting in the splitter to go to my room with my own box.

I plugged in the lounge reciever, no signal, so i thought it must need the second box connected to the other output, nope, same problem, no signal either. Unhooked the splitter and signal came back :(

Must have just been a bad splitter. took it back to Coreys and explained the problem and got a new one. All working now. Probably didn't have an issue swapping it because I bought 15m of cable too lol

hope this one lasts longer than 4 weeks~!

If its the ones with the red dust caps, dont turn the cable while connecting or tightening them, they break on the inside

That is pretty much the case with all F connectors, also make sure its not kinked when you put it in. Horrid connector IMO, but just became the norm because of the cable tv industry.
