Just scanned for channels on Freeview|HD in Media Center and found TV33, and this article:

"TELEVISION 33 will be heard and viewed in English and Chinese. We are targeting those New Zealander’s who want to be entertained and informed. Our programming schedule will provide entertainment through comedy, movies and reality format show, produced overseas and locally. We will provide a regular forum for educating and informing recent arrivals on issues they may face."

Sounds interesting, will be good to see what kind of programming they have. I just did a scan here and can't find anything (DVB-T, Christchurch). Hopefully it will show up soon.

Appears to be Auckland only so far and is Mandirin and Cantonese only rather than Chinese and English as first thought.

No, I'm picking it up here in Halcombe, from the Wharite tower.

  • It's actually broadcasting CCTV 4 on the channel.

  • The description in the EPG states that it is going to be launched some time in May.

  • Can you guys actually watch it??

  • Is it avaliable on Freeview|Satellite?? (eg. I'm using Freeview|HD/Terrestrial)

It's not available on DVB-S.. Probably because there is no space left.

It's being broadcast here in Wellington too however i removed it from my lineup as i can't see myself watching it at all. I'm sure it will have a good following though.

I see they need to improve the spelling in their website presence. Also the spelling in the EPG is wrong ("geard" instead of "geared").

I picked this up about 10 days ago in Whakatane (Te Aroha tower). I was surprised that it hadn't been mentioned here on GZ! Chances are that it's national (I don't think it's officially launched so it may not be on all towers yet, but will be by launch).

Is there any F1 coverage on CCTV 4?
(ie is this channel good for anything?)

doubt it. If it was, it wouldn't be for long.

According to the official Freeview website, TV 33 is only available in Auckland and only available on Freeview HD, but from earlier posts appears that it available elsewhere too.

I tried scanning new channels on the Extra Terrestrial box but it doesn't find it - all other channels are ok. Magic TV box and a Panasonic tv with built in Freeview on the same aerial pick it up with no problems, full signal strength.

It shows up on channel scans on freeview|hd in Dunedin - receiving from Mt Cargill. Nothing in the EPG & no actual channel being broadcast though.
