I found this info on playing video files on the MagicTV. You can basically convert anything and then play it on the MagicTV. A work around until they provide more format support.

http://www.freeviewshop.co.nz/downloads/HDTV TS file playback on the Magic TV.pdf

I haven't tried it yet, but from the manual it seems that the file is copied onto the internal HDD not played from the USB. I am wondering whether you can later pull the file back off the HDD onto the USB HDD?

If so is this an opening where with some internal code work, it might be possible to do the same with the other files on the drive? Just a thought.

Anyone used Super for this?

I have since found that when using Super to do this it seems to make the file extension in upper case. For the file to work correctly on the MagicTV you need to change it to lower case. (i.e change it from *.M2TS to *.m2ts)

Basically by spending a little time (well leaving the PC to do the time) converting files you can play anything on the MagicTV and use the 1080p output.
