Is just me, or there isn't a Freeview EPG for TVNZ7 for those early hours when some games are on?

Thanks. It may not be a problem - there aren't any games on TVNZ7 tonight, hence no EPG... Back to under the rock I live then.

Todays NZ herald had a centre pullout in the sports section with the time of each game and which station the game was being shown on e.g. SS1, SS2, TV1, TV7

First game up on TVNZ 7 is a replay tomorrow at 3:10 pm, and its all in their electronic guide.

Personally i'm looking forward to all the games live in HD off SBS Australia.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

Yep, we are getting all the games live on SBS1 with a dishtv hdmi satellite box plugged into the old skytv dish. Just as clear as freeview and can record them as well.

If so I would consider looking at a PCI sat card (recommendations....)

Yes, that is all that is needed, I just plugged it in and can get - Optus D1,D2 and C1.
Sbs is on both D1 and D2 with the epg as well

Does it require a dvb-s2 to receive in HD or will the card i linked to the trick?

I can't get SBS HD channel as the dishtv box doesn't recieve HD but, it upscales everything to 1080i so it is exactly the same as watching freeview and it also has a RF out on it to channel 36 so I can pipe it all to the other tvs in the house as well.

excuse my ignorance but how do you get D2 and C1 ? Do you have a dual/separate LNBs?

I have what sky left behind when they took the mysky hdi box away, I believe it had dual lnb's on the dish for that.
If I had a sky tv card to put in the slot I could get sky as well as all the channels are there, just encypted it says .

Yeah needs a DVB-S2 receiver for the HD channel.
Not sure if there are many cards that do this. I looked earlier and of the cheaper sat cards they didnt sell many S2 capable ones here as traditionally we haven't had anything like that to look at. The higher spec Hauppage HVR cards did to that I think.

I have the Ultraplus 980HD single tuner sat PVR. Does HD and works great with every hard drive I've thrown at it.

SBS one HD is exactly the same content as SBS One normal, only in HD or upscaled to HD if it's not natively HD.
The soccer matches look great in HD.
Probably the same/close to TV1 on terrestrial freeview HD.
Not sure about the ads, are they running ads on either channel, may decide which way to watch the NZ game/s. Commentary probably different too.

For each satellite you need a new lnb.
The Sky 'dualthroat' (the oval/fat one) lnb has two lnbs in it. You switch between them with a 22kHz tone whihc you turn on in the receiver. The tone switches to the 2nd lnb which points at C1.
D2 requires a different lnb, and you'd need a switch to go between each one.

cafeg/others will correct me if any of the above is incorrect.
