So, to clarify, you are trying to get WIN TV supplied by Hauppauge to work?

Not sure if it is still the case but I know it used to be that you should not have wintv installed if you want to use media center. Maybe an idea to uninstall all the software for the 3000 and then just install the drivers (make sure they are the latest from the the UK site).

Windows 7 MC should work out of the box but always best to make sure you have all the current patches anyway.

When you say it won't play them, what does it say? It usually will give some info like "missing video codec, please restart media centre" or something like that

Usual process that I do is
1 Install drivers only for tuner card
2. Reboot
3. Setup Media centre for channels etc.
4. Reboot
5. Enjoy.

Possibly some un-needed rebooting but it was required fo XP which is what I started with.

Also, don't rely on the auto setup from MC - it will "find" the NZ chanels without the aerial cable plugged in or the wrong LNB settings. I have to ask - you have the sat aerial plugged into the F connction? (Seen this done wrong too many times)
Delete all channels and do a manual scan of freq 12456 & 12483 (22500 symbol rate)
See what it picks up
