Hi,
I am not the most knowledgeable when it comes to some of these TV stuff.

I just gave up my sky (returned their decoder)

Last week I purchased one of these Digistar DSS-811UB from trademe.
It came in a box with one RCA cable.

Reading from the instruction manual, it tells me to connect the SCART cable to my TV and to the unit and also connect the RCA cable to the TV and the device.

I am about to buy the SCART cable from Dicksmith but I would like to know if that is required?

I know my Sky decoder had the SCART cable with one going to the TV and one going to my VCR so with that, I am thinking I need the SCART cable. I have tried with just the RCA cable from the device to the TV but then I get no signal error.

If somebody could be kind to tell me exactly what needs done, I will very much appreciate it.

Thanks

What AV inputs do you have on your TV.

Is there a standard yellow rca output on the Digistar box, or do you have to output your video signal via SCART plug?

The Digistar box has the SCART(with TV) written beside it. It also has RCA ports (Red, white, black and yello) I connected the RCA from the Digistar to the TV but was getting no signal error. On the Digistar I could see a yellow light for signal.
From the instruction manual, I believe reading that I should connect the SCART and also connect this RCA don't know whether that is right or not. My expectation was that the device will come with all the cables it needs to get it going. Probably I am right, probably I am wrong.

I believe lots of people have got this going so they will be able to tell me what cables are required to get it going.

I am thinking the signal is not getting to the TV if there is any signal at all. SKY was working fine until last week when I returned the decoder.

Thanks

Ok, well if you connect to your TV using the yellow RCA output on the digistart, do you get any menus from the unit on the TV.

ie can you see the video output from the digistar on the TV, even if there are no actual TV channels displaying from it yet..

No I only get the no signal. So it seems the device is not communicating with the tv. Pretty much

You can get SCART to RCA adaptors fairly cheaply.
This should provide a stanard yellow RCA composite video signal and should get you up and going if you do need to use this method to connect to the TV.  Seems odd though if there is a yellow rca output on the back of the unit itself.

Hi,

1) What is written/labelled on your TV, for the Yellow RCA you have plugged the lead into? Make sure it's an input that you have used (or AV in).
2) Have you connected the aerial correctly - it sounds like you have, as you should get a Digistar Intro screen when you turn the unit on.
3) Have you selected the correct channel input on your TV, that corresponds with your answer from 1). i.e. if you have plugged the Yellow RCA into AV in 1, you need to choose AV1 on your TV.

Hello,
I think what I will be doing this evening when I get home is to connect the yellow RCA cable from the box to the tv and make sure that at least I get something from the box and the carry on from there.

I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks

Thanks
I am all done now.
The interesting part was figuring out what LNB type and values to give.
But thanks to google and some geeks, it was on the net.

I would like to know for Optus c1 though. Have got Optus D1 and D2 going and would like to know what I can get out of C1. If anybody knows the antenna setting, that will be good.
