Hi, I'm looking for a good sat box for over here with HDD so can rec also the freeview channels and maybe a card slot for future prof.. i was looking around and they seem very expensive.. I was wondering if I can use a satalitte box from the UK over here? would it work? what would i need to look out for?

If I cant then it looks like ill go for DishTV S7050PVR  over here.. is that a good one?  many thanks.

No real reason (apart from power plug etc) that a UK sat box shouldn't work over here. Others will correct me if I'm wrong, but our Sat freeview service is very standard. You just probably wont get the MHEG 5 EPG but will still use the normal EIT EPG.

The S7050PVR only has a single tuner. A double tuner PVR is much more useful. UK satellite receivers should work here with a plug converter.

To be on the safe side you might want to keep clear of the Freesat boxes for use in NZ.
