Hi there,
I currently run freeview on my PC. I have media portal all up and running with all the free view channels, however, I'm trying to setup ShineTV and I can't seem to get the correct settings, anyone have any clues as to where I'm wrong??

http://www.lyngsat.com/optusd1.html is where I've got all of my channel setups so far, but media portal seems to require a channel number, and I dont have that.. Anyone able to shed light??

If also needed, I can post all of my media portal channel settings for other users..

Cheers

You don't need a channel number! I presume you are trying to enter the channel details manually. Why don't you just scan the Optus D1 satellite for channels? It is much easier.

Having said that, here are my settings.
Set the DiSEqC to "none" if you don't use DiSEqC.

I was running version 1 of mediaportal. Its been all good up till friday, windows update must've stopped it. It was weird, either way, I've installed the latest version.

Its so much faster, But i've lost all my channels. You mentioned you could scan earlier, I can't seem to find it. I've been trying to get ShineTV to work and it can't find signals.

1. How do you scan?
2. Are you able to provide details for other channels, OR, direct me to a site that has the correct details. Lyngsat.com doesnt seem to match up like it used to.

Shine TV is about as exciting as watching the sun go across the sky.

Change channel imo..

"How do you scan?"

1. Open TV Server configuration.
2. Expand the "TV Servers" section.
3. Expand the TV Server that contains the satellite tuner.
4. Select the satellite tuner (on the left, *not* by clicking on the TV Server itself).

That should show the scanning section for your tuner. See if you can figure out how to use that by yourself (I'm at work at the moment and I can't give specific instructions off the top of my head). You'll probably have to use the advanced tuning options to set your LNB local oscillator frequencies, but other than that it should be pretty straightforward.

"Are you able to provide details for other channels, OR, direct me to a site that has the correct details. Lyngsat.com doesnt seem to match up like it used to."

I could provide you with the details for other channels, but it would really be a waste of your time and mine. You should be scanning for channels, not entering them in manually. If you find that you just can't get scanning working then I guess I could do it...
Lyngsat is still fine. You shouldn't really need it though because MediaPortal has its own list of transponder frequencies which are the same as what you'd get from Lyngsat. This list is what it uses to scan the satellite. The PIDs and other settings are determined automatically.

You're welcome to your opinion, but keep in mind that other people might have different perspectives to you. Espio is asking for help to receive the channel so rather than saying it is boring (which is completely unhelpful and IMO downright annoying) why don't you try helping next time?

I have a personal MediaPortal PC, and the place I work has a client with a MediaPortal PC. I've upgraded his and it's currently not working, but NZCrusader, that is why I need shine, for the client.

mm1352000: Thanks for your uber quick assistance. I need to completely resetup MediaPortal on my PC at home, should I write up a guide and we can post it? If I can complete it of course.

If you want. Ideally the best thing to do would be to update the MP wiki. I went looking for info there earlier but couldn't find anything. Now I've found this. Hopefully that will be helpful to you. Feel free to ask questions if you get stuck...

Channel Scan Complete! 18 or so Channels found and working.
EPG Guide imported (XMLTV is cool, but I want it to Auto-Update, I've read your guide and updated the EPG using 'The Daily Scrape')
Channel Logos are needed now.
Then Recording and folder paths.

P.S. This has all been documented and will be going in that Wiki.

Hi again.

I added instructions at the end of the thread for automatic updates.
For logos, I'd probably look no further than here. As they say, the logos need to be named exactly the same as the channels and placed in:

===
XP
===
TV = "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\tv\logos"
Radio = "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Radio"

=======
Vista/7
=======
TV = "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\tv\logos"
Radio = "C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\thumbs\Radio"

Ordinarily those folders are hidden so you'll need to enable viewing hidden files and folders. Google for instructions...

All the recording settings are in the "recording" section of TV Server configuration. They're pretty straightforward. Check out the Wiki if you have an questions about this section. You probably also want to have a quick look at the "timeshifting" section "folders" tab. Ideally you want all your recording and timeshifting folders to be on a 7200rpm hard drive or solid state drive. If possible, also a physically different drive to the OS drive.

@espio Why use xmltv? What's wrong with the epg provided directly in the dvb-s signal?

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I don't know how to configure it. It seems EPG Collector and XMLTV is how Im doing it now.

But, please, if there is another way, I would love to know it :)

Hi

Yes *I think* it can for EIT, although I'm pretty sure it can't for MHEG 5. Translation: you can do it for Freeview satellite, but not Freeview HD. Have a look here.
