Hi all, I am thinking of ditching Sky and getting PlayTV.

Is there a way for PlayTV to auto start when you turn on the ps3?

Maybe turning on the console with the blu ray remote boots up PlayTV or normal menu screen via the controller..

Also, are those indoor antennas any good? I'm in Epuni, Lower Hutt..

Apoligies if this has been asked/answered before..

Cheers

Nope, not at this stage.  Also, loading times are a little on the long side since the last firmware update.  I guess the closest to it is that PlayTV shows up in the recently played items.

That's not a half bad idea although I use my Blu-Ray remote for Blu-Rays so it might become inconvenient :)

When our UHF antenna was in the process of being replaced I used one of those DSE powered UHF indoor aerials and I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to receive a good freeview signal (South Karori).  So you may have a shot.

Cheers man.

Maybe i'll just go for a cheap satelite STB and hook it up to the existing Sky dish..

I know its not HD (and i have a 55" tv) but I never really worried about the quality of Sky TV..

The Digistar 811U was discussed here a while back (topic now locked), would be interested to see if the minor firmware problems have been ironed out since last year..

Why did you have sky previously? PlayTV only receives the free to air channels. You probably knew this, but just thought I'd ask all the same.

Got it for movies / sport but not watching those channels as much nowadays...

Freebies seems like the cheap alternative...
