Had seen questions about what would happen to C42 when C4 becomes FOUR next year, here is the answer:

Coinciding with the launch of FOUR in early 2011, C4 will replace C42 on the Freeview platform.

Because they want to make 3 appeal to more old people like one does so are moving the good stuff to FOUR, with no announcement if it will change to being HD or not.

We are such an original country with the channels named one, TV2, TV3 and C4 for 1,2,3,4 respectively.

Someone must have a bone of creativity somewhere!

Well, If you remember back when TV was born it was NZBC (TV1) & South Pacific Television (TV2) sounds very colonial doesn't it!!

At least we still get lots of music from c4! As the 'new' FOUR won't have as much music!

Have they actually confirmed no HD upgrade will be happening?

I suspect that with MWs owners in Ozz bleeding red ink and studio upgrades in AKL being canceled I would be very surprised if FOUR  went HD..  Would be nice to be wrong here  :-)

IMO if they are making three target old people now, they should move the HD gear over to FOUR when it launches and turn 3 SD if they are short of money for new kit.

Wow.. talk about "early 2011".. that's real quick off the mark for FOUR!

I wonder whether TVNZ will try & steal their thunder?
(Revealing their name/logo for their new youth channel just days before FOUR is launched, anyone?)

Does anyone out there know if TVNZ7 is being renamed or rebranded, once they add Kidzone & some other entertainment content from TVNZ6?

From the reports I've read, it looks like it's still going to be called TVNZ7 - although they haven't said that directly, it seems implied.

Absolutely.

With the extra advantage that if they have the rights to any sports event (eg Bathurst) they can show it live & uninterrupted on FOUR while the older set can watch their usual stuff (news etc) on TV3...

Also: TVNZ may have missed a step here by not firing-up Sports Extra for the ASB Tennis this week......
