Hi, our 29" 100hz tv died before christmas and so we purchased a Pana 42" Plasma at boxing days sales for 699 (not full hd). Have an existing Ultraplus 680 sat receiver connected via component. Don't yet have a UHF aerial for inbuilt Freeview Terrestrial.

The sat picture on the new tv at times is quite poor in busy or fast moving scenes, and particularly when changing to a new program/ad/promo/scene when it "transitions" from pixellated/blocky to reasonably crisp over a second or so. Found some posts from 2009 which seem to talk about this when tvnz added regional tv1's. Mostly watch tv1-3 and kidzone (tv6)

- is this still a problem with the satellite signal?
- is terrestrial sd significantly better quality than satellite sd? (i'd previously assumed they were similar)
- are there any published average bitrates for all the fv channels? some posts linked to http://www.satcodx5.com which don't appear to work anymore. I don't recall having any options to display bit rates on the Ultraplus.
- also saw a mention of sky fta for tv1 & 2. Is that still current & better or worse quality than fv sat versions? any difference in quality between sat regional tv1's?

Yes, but it doesn't appear to be as bad as it once was.

The Sky feeds are still active, and do appear to be slightly better in terms of picture quality (less pixelation), however, last time I checked (it was a while ago!) their audio bit rate was lower. I've also seen the odd error in their EPG, bu this is a pretty minor issue.

Could well be the satellite receiver.
