I have a direct TV FTA satellite decoder upon doing a recent scan on 12671 SR22500 H I managed to pick up trackside unencrypted but the TAB have told me that Trackside is only available on SKY pay TV.

Looking at the frequency listings on the Optus D1 shows this is a free to air channel so why are the TAB giving out the wrong information likewise why is it that Freeview lock their boxes to only scan the freeview transponders.

I currently can get all the Freeview channels. All SBS channels and now Trackside through a SKY dish.

I also forgot to mention in my previous post that the EPG for this channel is working perfectly.

It's been unencrypted on the Sky feed for a couple of weeks now. Wonder if / when it will get a Freeview channel number??

Freeview satellite transponders on the Optus D1 are 12456 and 12483 and freeview, overpriced, approved satellite decoders are locked to these frequencies except the DirectTV S7070 which you can add extra transponder settings.
Due to capacity issues on the freeview transponders should this channel remain unencrypted people with freeview approved sat decoders will not have access to this free to air channel likewise the free to air SBS channels.
In my opinion this is a rip off, consumers who buy freeview approved satellite equipment should be able to tune in to all free to air channels that are available.

The Hills and DTVS Freeview receivers are both approved units and both are able to tune non-freeview transponders.

They are likely more approved receivers that allow non-freeview transponder scanning so your argument is invalid AJW.
