Hi folks,

I have recently acquired a cheapy DVB-S TV card for my computer.

The accompanying software (ULive 1.4) installed ok along with the driver, BUT whilst I have scanned for available channels, can read the EPG details, and hear sound, I do not get any picture.

I tried the SageTV product and it works perfectly in all respects but at US$69 it's a bit tough.

Any suggestions as to why and/or how to get TV pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ricky.

Why not give Mediaportal or GB-PVR a go?
They are both free and both work well.

Hi CYaBro,

MediaPortal looks very cumbersome and cannot get GB-PVR to work ;-(

UPDATE: Have installed ProgDVB ver.6 and it seems to be performing perfectly.

I notice that after scanning for Freeview channels I end up with multiple listings of the same channel .... for example TVOne is there 4 times.

Can anyone explain why this happens?

There are 4 TVones being broadcast for different locations. When you see excessive blocking and a lack of channels, just remember that tvnz are more interested in their regional advertisers than providing a decent bitrate..

richms,

Thanks for reply ... any idea what/where the 4 I'm receiving are from/located? I flicked through during an ad break but saw no differences.

Oddly, whilst ProgDVB was running I decided to uninstall and reinstal the original tuner application in case the working program did something that was lacking earlier, and blow me down the thing now works perfectly!

There is a slight difference in clarity, one being slightly less pixelated when viewd full-screen.

Next job is to install the Astone media player/wireless network streamer I bought last week in Australia .

TV one only regionalize the ads at certain times, it seems that its prettymuch the whole break is different between regions when they do it, and its normally the crap shows where the ads are cheap, if you are on the wrong one you will get ads for wellington shops etc.
