I haven't used tmpgenc for years and years.
I remember it being a good tool but extremely slow.
I wonder if it is faster now????

I don't see .ts listed in input format capability in it's specs.
Therefore not much use for editing and converting my .ts recordings.

It costs US $99.95 - not sure that it would be good value for money.

yeah - not worth that much money.
I use Avidemux now - more features, faster, free & native to linux.

I have to admit I have never had much luck with editing ts files with avidemux. That could be because I get tranmission errors so there are breaks in the file, dropouts etc. that cause problems.

Up till now the only tool that has even the remotest chance of editing ts files and maintain audio/video sync is TS Packet Editor. Once I have edited the file I can then pass it through Handbrake to create a smaller version.

The only problem I have faced so far is, for some reason when Handbrake is creating a H.264 version, it seems to drive all four cores I have but if I chose  xvid/ffmpeg the encoder is not driving all cores to 100%.

That could be a problem with the ffmpeg library versus the x264 library Handbrake is using.
