Hi guys,

I just bought a TV over from the US - mainly to run my game console from in the spare room.

However, it comes with an ATSC tuner - and I was wondering if it means I can tune Freeview into it? Specs are:

Compatibility Modes

  • TV Tuner Capability: NTSC, ATSC

  • Component (through VGA connector): 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

  • HDMI: 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

  • PC: SVGA, XGA, WXGA

  • Optimum Resolution: 1920x1080

Connectors

  • Antenna in RF Input

  • Video +LR Audio (Composite) Input

  • 2 HDMI Input

  • D-Sub (VGA) Input

  • PC Audio (mini) Input

  • SPDIF Digital Audio (Optical) Output

  • LR Analog Audio (RCA) Output

  • Optional Accessory Dongle Set

  • YPbPr-to-D-Sub (VGA)

  • LR Analog Audio (RCA)-to-Mini Jack Audio

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Thanx

The ATSC tuner is useless here. Freeview HD is broadcast by DVB-T, and Freeview satellite by DVB-S.

If you want to receive Freeview, you'll need to buy a set-top box.

+1 on ATSC being a useful as "t*ts on a bull" in this part of the world,
as michaelt said NZ use the Euro flavour DVB-T for FTA HD

Some televisions sold in the USA won't display the 1080i50Hz HD signal used in NZ.
