Hi there,

Is anyone out there familiar with a way to reset the PIN code on a satlink 2800, if it is possible.

My niece was just given a satlink 2800 receiver - however it has a pin code set - and the previous owner can no longer remember it. Apparently their installer did it for some reason, he cannot remember who did the install.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the default 0000 doesnt work your gonna have to reload the firmware

I've done exactly the same thing on another satlink/coship unit and yeah, the only way to sort it is to reload the firmware via serial port. Didnt' take long but these days finding a computer with a serial port onboard can be tricky. there are usb to serial adaptors, but often they are flaky.

(off topic: I think this might be because back in the day software expected to see serial ports as port 1 or port 2, but with usb the adaptor might be assigned port 22 or something much higher. Just an idea on that one, I think somewhere you can change the assignment number.)
