Hi, i just went to watch prime this morning and found that i had no signal on that channel when it is usually fine. This is the same for the rest of the kordia mux. I get excellent reception from the other channels according to my sony tv's inbuilt tuner. Is it likely that the aerial has been misaligned during all the wind and thats the problem?
Yes it could easily be this, or your aerial is not the best and the weakest mux has dropped off completely.
This question is cropping up a lot lately. The mux's come on 3 different frequencies and often the aerial is better at receiving some than others, or the terrain suits some more than others etc.
A full (but quick initially) look over your whole system would be useful. Basically you need to know that the end plugs/terminations are like, what condition etc. Then the cable, any splitters etc or amplifier units along the way up to the aerial, and including that fly lead between the TV and the wall socket if you have one. Then the aerial itself, is it aligned properly but more often what are the contacts like at that end.
You might need to open up the box and clean up the connections/strip back the cable a bit to some clean wire etc. Mostly the aerial problems have been sorted going to F connectors but many aerials are still the saddle/clamp type connection that easily corrodes.
This reminds me of a story I heard about a satellite system problem. The signal would be fine for months, then start to deteriorate, ultimately to the point of uselessness.
Investigations revealed that the dish was out of alignment, and repointing it fixed the issue, for a time. Within a few months, the problems were back. Repoint the dish - everything was fine.
And again. No amount of tightening nuts or adding braces helped.
It turned out that the whole house was slowly tipping over due to subsidence!
