Hi all!

I don't think it is possible, but ill discuss it anyway.

I have a Panasonic DMR-EH68. No it doesn't have a freeview digital tuner.
The TV (A new Panasonic plasma with 3D) has a inbuilt freeview tuner (which is now connected via rabbit ears and yes it receives freeview without the uhf aerial). But the problem is how do I record freeview on my Panasonic dvd/hdd recorder, since this doesnt have a digital tuner. I have a direct hdmi connection from my dvd recorder to the TV, but yeah....

Presume the tv has av-out connections - just connect them to the AV-in connections on the dvd/hdd recorder and program it to record from AV-in connections.

It won't record in HD, and will have to have the tv on and on the right channel at the time, but it will work. Don't need to use this for recording non-freeview channels, but you'll probably get a better picture doing so.

You 'may' be fine with the above approach...
But, if you have a 2011 Panasonic 3D TV (with the last 3 digits being 30z) - then you're out of luck sorry. The '20z' range have analogue video and audio outputs, whereas the '30z' range only has analogue audio outputs.
As an aside, you can only record the channel you're currently watching at the time - In many respects, it's 'what you see is what you get'.

If your TV is a '30z' - you CAN record onto an SD card, or a USB hard drive (160GB - 2TB powered HDD). However it can only record the channel you're watching (just like the DVD recorder) and you can't copy the material off the drive, or watch it back on another device due to encryption.

You presume wrong. Modern TVs with digital tuners do not have monitor out. Why would anyone want to convert an H.264 transport stream to composite video. Defeats the purpose of digital TV.

Actually - Panasonic's do...
Or at least, the 2010 models 'did'.
I guess some people still want to do it - as they don't want to spend any money replacing older, still functional gear. Not everything needs to go directly to the dump I suppose...?

I have a Panasonic TX-P50VT20, (2010), so no not the latest but, I reckon the best TV that still does 2D Very well. I'll try hooking it up to the "old" AV connections, instead of HDMI, when I get back home.
Thanks for the help.

Edit: Yes this TV has monitor out, but thats currently connected to my receiver (amp), provides surround sound when watching 'normal' or live broadcastings.

It's not possible unless your TV has Video and Audio outputs and then only in SD and stereo sound.
My Sony EX720 has heaps of video composite/component and HDMI inputs but NO video output at all, only Optical and Stereo sound.
It's my understanding that NZ Freeview Certified TV's are not permitted to allow external recordings of Freeview content.
The only way I could record Freeview before I got my Panasonic Blu-Ray Recorder was via composite video out from a STB and only in SD, or on my PC's HVR2200 tuner.

Having looked at the manual for your model online there appears to be ONLY one output socket and that is Optical Dgital sound. All the other sockets are inputs.

With an old analogue recording device, yes.

TV's are made to be the display device. You might strike it lucky, as mentioned above and find a composite video out, but expect this to disappear in future.

They provide audio out though as TV's are increasingly not expected to be the only source of audio in the room.
