My Son lives in an Apartment in Wellington, he has borrowed our tiVo for the Rugby World cup. When he does a Channel search he gets all the non TVNZ channels but does not get the following

TV1, TV2, TVNZ 7, TV3 or TV3+

Prime is OK

Anyone shed light on this and have any idea how to fix.

Thanks

Obviously not enough signal strength to receive all channels. TV3 and TV3+ are not TVNZ so it looks like only the MUX with Prime has enough strength to tune.
What sort of antenna is being used?

Solution:  Improve the antenna and/or add a masthead amp.
As he is in an apartment this may not be possible.

The tuner in the Tivo may be insensitive so try borrowing a Freeview TV and see if it works.
What about others in the apartment block. Do they receive Freeview OK?

Need more info to solve the problem.

It is likely to be signal not strong enough to tune those channels or the kind of antenna he is using..?
tell him to get a few coat hangers and some screws and build himself a 4 bay bowty antenna HDTV it took me 20 minutes to make. here is the link http://www.tvantennaplans.com/
It is great they gonna show those games in cristal clear freeview eh.

good luck,

KiwiNZ: My Son lives in an Apartment

That's the problem.  It's been discussed a lot here over the years.  Apartments often have filters which are now out of date and block the freeview frequencies.

Options have been:

Get the body corporate to fix it.
Get an internal aerial and hope you get enough signal.
