i have a dish tv branded s9020dvd

For scenario sake ( BY THE WAY I HATE CSI BUT EASY TO TYPE LOL)

If i want to "tape" something from epg. i push the epg button select the channel time and program i want then i push the "book" red button.

I have got this far

on my grandfathers free view unit. he can say book csi then it asks does he want to record entire series. so it books every single episode of csi even if it was on twice a day it would book it.

with my unit i dont seem to have this option it only gives day, week, or monthly.

it could be the option at the bottom that says record mode there are two options

the first is "timer" i would think this is the option i am looking for but could sombody confirm please.

the second option is "record"

thanks guys. this seems like a hard unit compared to my grandfathers his is a UHF and my one is satalite but even so.

Its not a freeview approved unit and hasnt got MHEG-5 or series link

Series link is a feature of the MHEG5 EPG. A unique code is transmitted with the EPG that allows the device to know what shows are actually part of a series. Unfortunately with a non Freeview certified device that doesn't have MPEG5 you don't get this feature.

Some decoders that use the EIT EPG may be able to offer the ability to record a show at a certain time every day/week, but I have no idea if this product offers it, I suspect not based on your comments above.

bugger didn't realize it wasn't free view approved. if i realized it didn't have this feature i may not of bought it. Just looked at price. bought it for $115 new from a local retailer. recommended retail is around $250 on the dishtv site. To be honest i thought all dish tv's were approved. ah well i have it now. will just have to book what ever program by the daily/weekly/monthly option.

Just does not tell you what it is you have recommended after you have downloaded it will have to use an old fashion note book lol. dam in the tech age and im using pen and paper. should of done my research.
