Hi, I have just been trying to set up this Strong 3650 Sat receiver and I have found it seems to have a few issues with it the first is that even when you haven't got the Transponder lead plug in I'm
getting a signal strength reading of 29% and when connected up I find that in trying to12483
access the OPTUS D1 Satellite that I'munable to access the 12483 band in the Horizontal
position ( Have a Sharp KU-LNBF lba attatched to the dish)
Are these indications considered normal with this receiver or is the receiver a
basket case?

Forget the 29% unplugged signal for the moment - I doubt if it means a thing.
The more important question would seem to be why there is no signal when it is plugged in.

How confident are you of the dish and transponder alignment?
Have you set the L.O. frequency in the receiver to match the LNB (it'll likely be 11750 or 11300 MHz)?

Quite so.  A bit of a typo there on my part.  My apologies and thanks.

Definitely make sure that the local oscillator frequency is matching the dish lnb. And check that you have 22500 symbol rate too.

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

Hi Folks, Thank you for the help on this problem.
Im a newbie on this and worst still I dont have the manual for this receiver
First of all the angles for the satellite dish are approx at the settings to access the OPTUS D1 Satellite.
The Dish carries an LNBA with the following Information on it.
SHARP
KU-LNBF
LO: 11.3 Ghz
12.25~12.75 Ghz
950~1450 Mhz

The Receiver has the following selections in the ANTENA SET UP section

Satellite: I have this set to OPTUS D1
Transponder: I have this set to 12483-H-22500
LNB Type: This has for selections Normal, Wide, Universal, OCS C-Band
Lo Frequency: These are in Mhz in the following order
5150,5750,9750,10750,10600,10000,10678,11200,11300,11475,11500
Hi Frequency: These are identical in size and order as the Lo frequencies
22K Auto or Off
0/12Voltage 0V 12V
DiSeqc Switch Settings: Comitted, Un-Comitted, Repeat
LNB Power off, Auto, 14v 18v

The first two Field settings are what is required to access NZTV1
Could anybody give me some idea as to what the other settings would likely to be if would be great.
As for the lackof signal from the LNBA I have yet to check out the cable or the plug fittings to see if if the problem lies there.
