I acquired a P4 computer a while back, which I have been using as a media PC to stream video to my flat-mates PS3 through a wired LAN. Not long after, I bought a DVB-T usb stick off ebay for $15. I works great and I can record digital broadcasts of all freeview channels in windows media centre, but cannot watch them because the graphics card in my computer cannot keep up with HD video (I can bring into movie maker and export at lower resolution then watch on PS3).
So... I started investigating whether I could stream freeview via upnp to the PS3 since it is a powerful enough video renderer.
I eventually stumbled across Nero MediaHome, downloaded the trial version and it worked!!! However, it only tuned in TV1, TV2 and TV3. This intrigued me because it obviously picks up the TVNZ and MediaWorks transponders, but for some reason only recognizes a few of the channels.
Any reasons why this might be so?
I contacted Nero about adding the transponder for Prime etc, to their database but they weren't interested because they are not planning a new release anytime soon.
I cannot find a transponder file anywhere in the program files so I was also wondering if anyone knows where Nero keeps it's list of transponders?
I would love to get this working for all freeview channels, but it might not be possible because of the HE-AAC audio of some channels (not supported by the PS3) and I'm not sure whether Nero MediaHome can transcode this on the fly.
Thanks for any replies!
Ben
