Hi Guys,

OK, on that other MTV3700 thread, someone was asking about the 5.04NZ firmware.

I've finally installed it on my box.  And haven't seen any differences yet.

Specifically I've checked the FF and RW and neither have improved.

Probably haven't changed chanels enough to spot the subtitles issue, but it's sporadic at best anyway.

BTW I've started playing with copying recorded programs to USB.
The resulting files are .ts and are indeed encrypted when recording HD (720p or 1080i), though I've noticed that just because the channel is broadcasting in 1080i (e.g. TV3) not all programs are recorded in HD (and I don't think it's because of TV3+1, because I've seen it on TV1 as well).

Standard def files (720x576x25fps) seem to be able to be played happily with VLC, though the interlacing is noticable (I had forgotten to turn on auto de-interlacing processing). Windows Media Player on Win7 (with a handful of non-standard codecs) was unable to play the audio.

I've read a bit about a couple of systems to decrypt the .ts files, though these are largely based on shared card (e.g. your Sky card) networks, basically providing time/channel specific decryption keys.  Which probably aren't relevant for the MTV3700.  There's an old tool for brute-forcing the keys, but I've not been able to locate a valid download.

That's all for now. Apologies if this level of decryption discussion breaks the rules.

Later'ish
Craig

We've got the 3700 with 5.04 update. Terrible rewind and fast forward... If you watch a show while its booked to record, and you "catch up" by fast forwarding in ad breaks it often crashes. Basically pops up with a "Magic TV will restart - OK?" and then it reboots. That means you lose part of your recording...

Coming from MySki HDi to this is a big step down - I'm returning it tomorrow.
