Just reinstalled my desktop in the office, installed the HDHomeRun drivers and saw a notice the first time I started media center, saying I will need to "retune this device 13th March"...

Any more information on this?

There is a frequency change for Manawatu on March 13.

How else are you supposed to get the message out to people with a large reach?

It should have never happened, they should have had the correct frequencies in the first place.

Via the channel message on the TV. I have been getting that message for the last few weeks on my PCs tuner, but it doesn't appear on my Tivo, but perhpas that detects I am in Wellington.

I guess all the flyers will be paid for by the spectrum they are clearing to sell. The flyers must be for the viewers that only turn the tv on every few weeks!

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....

Mind explaining how they could have used frequencies that already had existing users with existing management rights?

If you were standing on the street eating an apple and somebody came along and stole it from you because they wanted an apple you'd consider it theft. Are you suggesting it would have been OK for Freeview to do precisely this?

The DVB standard has region coding built in, and most approved boxes will ask you for this when you set them up.

Now, that makes sense. How do they check the region, by ZIP or something else?

They couldn't have waited?

So instead of Freeview terrestrial trial broadcasts commencing in December 2007 we should have had a 4 year delay and waited until December 2011 before launching Freeview|HD? That has to be the craziest thing I've heard in a long time.

If frequency restacking is such a bad thing maybe you can point me in the direction of all the discussions and damning media stories detailing the dramas restacking has caused in areas where it has already occured?

I'm not saying it was a bad thing just that it was expensive and unnecessary.

Did you read the explanation? "Unnecessary" I understand would be the four years wait.
