I habe been playing around with firmware v2.10.28. The series record function on this is great. So far just tested a couple of programs and last night I set Sea Patrol to record and do series record. Looking in timer recordings it is already set to record next weeks episode of Sea Patrol.
At moment I am recording a program and playing a media file off external hard drive and all is well.
The new radio* internet radio works fine also. This looks like it will definitley be the best firmware to date and I believe the best freeview pvr there is.

HTPC Intel Pentium G3258 cpu, Gigabyte H97n-wifi motherboard, , 8GB DDR3 ram, onboard graphics. Hauppuage HVR 5500 tuner, Silverstone LC16M case, Windows 10 pro 64 bit using Nextpvr and Kodi

Not generally available. I was given it to try and promised I would not share it so I am very sorry but I wont share it.

There was a v2.10.29 released but cant find it at moment. On Austech site they say removed due to bugs in the series record.
Shouldnt be too much longer for the new release.

I would assume they will release the 900hd at the same time

Nah sorry. Vu+ Duo is better IMO.

Can the 9200 support a 2TB hard drive?
Does it have programmable ad skipping buttons?

Series Link has been working on Vu+ Duo for over a year now and software upgrades are freely available from the VIX forum amongst others. There is an excellent support community there too.

If you still think the 9200 is better, please explain why.

I see so many people just cant set up the duo plus. The x-9200 just plug in and go.

But the main reason is the x-9200 is available here. Try buying a duo vuo from any New Zealand supplier. Please correct me if I am wrong now. I do know it was not available here for awhile and as far as I know still is not available here.

But yes I agree with you, once the duo vuo has been setup it would be the best but that is nowhere near as easy for most people.

I guess I'm in the minority then. No amount of effort could get the Ultraplus box I had working reliably so I sent it back; the Vu+ Duo worked straight out of the box. The only "set-up" I did was to separate the tuners to allow them to act independently. I was up and running recording across a LAN to a disc on my Mac within minutes. I later installed a 1 TB drive (took about 15 minutes - easy) and it's scarcely missed a beat in coming up for 2 years.

If it ever does spit the dummy, and assuming that there is still no decent cheap broadband HD delivery service, and that NZ FTA DVB-S hasn't proceeded too far along its path to self-destruction through spewing even more ad-riddled drivel, I'd import a Vu+ unit from Australia or the UK, or Mars if I had to rather than risk another Ultraplus fiasco.

I bought a Samsung 2TB drive that was noted for its quietness and it has lived up to expectations. It runs so quietly I cannot hear the drive from more than 1 metre away. Definitely much quieter than the HDD in MySky where you could always hear the heads clicking.

It's quiet, sure, but it is just audible from across the room. No biggie, just a minor annoyance. I was thinking of swapping it for a 5400 rpm drive, but then prices doubled! What is the rotational speed of yours, Grant?

Yep, 5400rpm, chosen for quietness. The slower speed doesn't seem to make any difference in performance because I/O is limited by:

1) Processing power of CPU
2) Limited bandwidth per satellite transponder
3) 100Mbps Ethernet speed

Recently I copied a recorded movie file from my Duo via FTP. It was maxing out the Ethernet port, so obviously HDD speed is not a factor.

Thanks for that. It confirms exactly what I'd read on some other websites. I'll probably get a 5400 rpm drive at some point then and put the 7200 rpm one in an external case to add to my 'library' storage.
