I tend to use the DVB-S extracted listings that are posted on the http://pvr.geek.nz site but lately they don't seem to be available. Anybody else having this problem?

Thanks

They appear to be down.

Might be someone trying to pull the EPGs down or something.

I hope its just a technical issue.

If its a bloody copyright claim on it - whatever company caused it deserves as much negative publicity as possible.

Its more than a DNS issue, using the IP of the old site, you see that the files exist on there, generated today, but contain no data....

Be good to know what is going on...  ie I think tonight is my last night of guide....

Cheers
David

Athe moment I am back to using xmltv which seems to be holding up.

I wish I had a way of extracting the guide information from the MHEG-5 information that I am guessing comes down via the DVB-T card I use and then I wouldn't have to worry about external sources of epg.

I just got this message when I went to xmltv.co.nz

"Unfortunately this site is currently down, due to a legal complaint from SKY Network Television Limited."

Well there might be a clue on the home page for xmltv.co.nz:

Leith Bade did some fantastic work on this here writing an MHEG5 to XML extraction tool, very few people seem to have taken advantage of it. I played with it in the early days and it worked well, it then broke when Freeview deployed their MHEG5 PVR updates but I see the source was fixed in Decwember to fix this issue.

That looked promising. I downloaded the DV-DVB Source program and it scanned and found all the Freeview channels. But mheg2xml crashed because I suspect while the author has fixed the source for the Freeview PVR changes, the binary on the site is an older one (2008).

I have no ability to compile the source so I hope somebody who has can do that and put it somewhere - please!

freeview have xml files available on their website.
whether they're secret files or not is unknown.

these files aren't xmltv, but with a little conversion they can be.
my program downloads and converts those files into xmltv.
http://vangelder.orcon.net.nz/files/FreeviewToXMLTV.zip
i tried running it, it seems to still work. just freeview channels. no sky.

i used to use this as an external app for epgstream.net but since epgstream is not yet windows 7 compatible, i just use the inbuilt dvb-s eit stream.

Oh wow. Just wow.

Sky, as if you didnt fail enough already. Someone should dig some more info and do a write up if they have a popular blog because this copyrighting EPG data is just plain stupid.

Recompiled with Visual Studio 2008 under .net framework 2.0. Didn't make any changes. Havent tested (dont have access to my HTPC atm). Download Link. Source code available from the main site here.
Hope it works.

Looking to advance my C# skills some more, it'd be nice to be able to contribute to a project such as this.

It is all a big sky conspiracy. Their EPG seems to be down a fair chunk of the time .... thus you have to keep on buying the magazine with listings. No way they could have people doing something better than them :-)
