I've got this invitation to an event happening in AKL next Tuesday 20th April:

Anyone wants to speculate?

Yes this is the integration of TVNZ On Demand that was slipped into the firmware not too long ago, then quickly removed/disabled.. They will probably be re-releasing this properly now.. :)

Yay :)

Yeah, I saw the screenshot of TVNZ OnDemand logo from end of last year's firmware update, I think it was the 3.15 which enabled the VidZone for NZ, that then the ability is there in dormant.

well I for one will use it, I use my PS3 often for VidZone (Music Videos on Demand), and this should integrate nicely. Just hope it streams well, and isn't too bandwidth intensive.

Would possibly be a slight replacement almost for MySky.. for the TV1/TV2 content atleast..

I do hope TV3 would do something similar also for PS3

Yeah its anything like other countries it only opens a web browser to the TVNZ On Demand website.
Not an actual intergrated player

Are they _finally_ going to launch the PS3 "PlayTV" Freeview tuner unit in NZ perhaps? Or is someone getting kickbacks from Freeview PVR units and they don't want to miss out? (I love a good consipracy theory...)

Been waiting too long for this, since the firmware 'mistake' last year. One assumes that whilst it may 'just' open the PS3 browser the experience will be customised and optimised for PS3 users.

I dont quite understand what it will offer - PS3 has a web browser now - just have TVNZ on demand as a favourite?

When I tried a few months ago. tvnzondemand.co.nz's videos didn't play on the PS3. I tried last night and it definately did. But alas it was quite low quality and didn't look so good on my large TV.

I then tried youtube.. via the PS3's web browser and well.. its horrible.. Who designed that interface????  REALLY low res only videos and no way to change it and if you go to the non PS3 verson on the PS3 you don't have any option of viewing the HD versions.

I hope they get some better bitrates for the tvnzondemand stuff or I really don't see any reason to watch it . The Quality should be as good as newer videos on vidzone. They are pretty good.

Hmmm so selecting it just opens the PS3's browser and shows you TVNZ OnDemand through your browser just as it always has done? Or is it improved somehow? Anyone had a chance to use this?
