logo: I signed up my contract on 4 August 2013 so my six months runs out on 4 Feb 2013 (not long to go)

Do I wait until after the 4th to change my plan or can I change it now to be effective from the 4th?

Also - can others confirm that the bonus data (500MB or 1GB ) still applies? Seem to get conflicting reports reading this thread.

Tell you tomorrow after the month roll overs. I was told by three different 2degrees people that yep, change down to the $29 plan and get 500 meg per month plus keep my rollover minutes etc.

I successfully downgraded my $89 plan to the $29 plan. kept my roll over minutes. didn't have the bonus 500 meg ut a quick phone call sorted that inside 3 minutes.

18 months and 1 day left on my contract

Which means in two days I can change down plans. Thinking of the $29 plan (esp if it comes with 500MB data)

Is it better to change it online or over the phone?

Mine also is gonna hit 6 month timeline tomorrow. Its saying 18 months and 0 days. So going to downgrade tomorrow but planning to do it instore just to be sure of all the details..

Iam a heavy data user so sticking to the $39 plan for 1GB

Just an update

I signed up on 1 August last year so my 6 months just came up.

Phoned up - got changed to the $29 plan and they confirmed that I still get the 500Mb data but I have to phone up on my billing rollover date (4 Feb) to get them to load it on as they couldnt do it now as Im still on my $89 plan until then.

They advised me that since I signed up before 10 August, Im on the old contract which means no charge to downgrade plans after 6 months AND I still get the bonus data. Apparently with the new (post 10 Aug) contracts there is a charge to downgrade plans (I already knew that) but also the bonus data is gone if you do.

When the new revised $19 prepay plans came out I was afraid I may have made a wrong decision with locking into a contract and also since the phones have come down in price to around $699 (DSE today) but I dont think Im too bad off

e.g. I would have stayed on a $19 plan for say 24 months = $456 + $699 for a phone = total cost $1155

Now - $89 x 6 + $29 x 18 = $1056

Usage is about the same - I dont go through all 1GB of data (maybe 300-400MB) and make a handful of phone calls.

The bonus is that Ive had an S3 right from the start and I sold my LG Optimus 2x 6 months ago for a lot more than I would get for it now ($300 - might get $200 for it now)

At the start of this I said to myself that Im not going to change from the S3 for the duration of the contract (2 years) but a couple of mates have the Note 2 and that is a very nice phone (dont say pha**t).

Thats interesting that you didnt get charged the downgrade fees. Coz when I did my downgrade online it displayed the message that $110 penalty applies (I downgraded to $39) Also effective from 4th Feb.

I would probably give them a call and see if they could waive my downgrade penalty as well..

Oh yeah absolutely agree on that.. I am not a heavy caller either.. I am just pleased that I am not paying $110 downgrading penalty.. And getting the bonus 1GB on the $39 plan.. and the phone is still free..

Plan rolled over this morning and still have the rolled over minutes and now 1.1GB data

Lucky for me I downgraded earlier coz now the $39 plan comes with 750MB

Overall very pleased with the deal and many thanks to the topic starter for giving us the insight into this deal

Looks like we're all in the same boat! Just successfully downgraded to the (now old) $39/month plan. Much better value for me too IMO.
