An update to my problems mentioned above, I am now home testing the static IP 2Deg support assigned. And the problems appear to be resolved. Therefore there was a problem with CGNAT affecting my connectivity to, PUBG, AOE2 DE, and twitch chat (which did work but was continually reconnecting every 30 sec)

Thank you 2Deg for prompt assistance, the support representative Matt was very good on the phone. Wait time around 15min, and call about 5min to solve. Wait not unreasonable given others may also be affected.

That really sounds like the scnat rule is timing out. For all of those things a public ip isn't required or even really used at all

Yes I agree

Thankfully Geekzone to the rescue as a place for users to share common problems, I was eventually beginning to conclude the issue wasn't on my end, but seeing others experiencing issues of same nature helped avoid some further loss of hair ;)

Is anyone else getting high ping now? Ping ranges from 190-220 in game.

Every ISP will to Australia. There is work being undertaken in Sydney today from 7am - 7pm AEST to replace a land section of SCCN. This means traffic is being rerouted.

I have been having (presumably) the same issue with unreliable connections the last couple of weeks - quiet TCP connections are dropped after a few minutes, even with keepalive as low as 20 seconds. It doesn't appear directly related to the introduction of CGNAT because I've been on that for a while, and it happens on IPv6 as well (less frequently perhaps), but it's clearly a network fault and a recent change.

I filled out their support form reporting that with diagnostic information and all that I got back was an upsell to a business connection and a brush-off, so my expectations for its being resolved, logged, or dealt to in any way are not high.

It's a bit variable, but in the worst patches they drop within two minutes, though a few times it's been several hours and I've thought it was fixed, but it always returns. For SSH connections I've started keeping a clock updating every second to keep them alive, though they still cut off occasionally after a while. From fiddling around it seems like some traffic every five seconds or so is enough. All the websites and applications with long-lived WebSocket connections I can't fix, though.

Hi All,

The team are investigating the reported problem of TCP connections being dropped for some customers, in parallel we have logged a case with our hardware vendor to troubleshoot from both sides. Once i know more, I'll update.

Hi All,

We have implemented a change based on feedback from our vendor as a work around while we continue to investigate this issue. This may take a day or so for them to work through logs etc.

Nick.

Just came here to say I'm having the same issues - PUBG and some other games just not working (PUBG crashes out within 30 seconds) and unable to create lobbies for other games (AOE2:DE).

I explained the problem to the helpdesk and they provided me with a Static IP address for 24 hours and that solved my problems. I'm having issues again now so I'm not sure if I'm still on static IP or not.

However, given that 2 Degrees literally says on their product page for Ultimate Fibre (which I'm on):

"2degrees Ultra-Fast Fibre is perfect if you’re online a lot and stream TV, movies and music or if you’re into gaming."

I am fully expecting that I can play games with my 2 Degrees fibre service without having to pay any additional costs above and beyond.

@erik Read up the last 2 posts. They're working on it but it isn't an overnight fix...

I'm having some strange issues (not on a CGNAT IP range) and wondering if it's related to these. International speeds accessing content have tanked, have semi confirmed via downloading speedtest files from https://speed.hetzner.de/

Testing via a VF fibre connection gets over 2MB/s whereas at home on 2deg Fibre it's 200-300KB/s (both were ethernet'd).

So no issues on the network?

Getting ~20MiB/s with jdownloader. I think that the German server is capped.

to be fair, it's to germany. Your likely going to a auction server there?

single thread gets 6MB/s over my wisp line, 2.8MB/s (pegging the line) over my Spark VDSL and 600KB/s over my VF ADSL line.

the VF ADSL line is slow low as it's iterleavings off and any sort of packetloss makes tcp unhappy at that distance and sawtooths..

I wouldn't say your speed changes are anything at all todo with CGNAT.

It was getting belted right after that post... went from 110MB/s down to 6MB/s for quite awhile there with a machine far closer..

Ok fair point. But things have been very strange the past few days on my 2deg fibre connection. I just find it far too much of a coincidence that my browsing habits work fine on my friends VF connection where at home they aren't so great.

I'm too afraid to reboot the router in case I get chucked on the CGNAT train! haha.

There's also just this odd thing that my geekzone account had to be relogged into to reply? Chrome tabs weren't closed since I posted earlier and I definitely didn't logout.

Do myrepblic have GCNAT as well? Looking to switch to them as 2degrees added $10 to my account so I can use the internet as intended. I love the fritzbox though, wonder if I can keep using it if I switch to another provider.
