nate: I just spoke to their helpdesk, 2Degrees are allowing the complete number range from today (the restriction on 0220... as just for yesterday).

Their website is being hammered, the CSR told me to try again in an hour - their techs are working on it now to fix as we speak.  He was unable to make the change over the phone.

I am concerned about the lack of official word. Your information is contradictory to what I got a couple of hours earlier, and since then the website has gone down (as we know).

So I believe we still need "definitive true final info on the 022 number blocks".

The currently situation is only going to load their poor call centre even more.

So is it limited to 022 XXX XXXX or can you have 022 XXX XXX?

I have a VF number I want to keep but mirror in 022 land. It's 021 XXX XXX...an old on account number.

It is 022 plus 7 digits

But currently the first digit is "fixed" to 0

So it is 022, then 0, then 6 digits.

We need an answer on this 2 degrees. Too many people wasting time (and wasting your call centre time) on this issue. Please state your position :(

As much as we all feel we get special treatment, I think you'll need to be pro-active to get answers out of 2 Degrees.  There involvement here is purely voluntary.

I'm not sure how much more official I can get other than their helpdesk at 2Degrees.

Except that we have two people who've called the call centre and got a totally contradictary couple of responses.

And also Nate they monitor this forum. They are just a little busy right now understandably.

If they came out with a position it would decrese the strain on their call centre. The CSRs are nice but don't seem to actually know what is going on and have to "escalate" the question anyway.

The full range of numbers 022 xxx xxxx will be released "in the next day or two once the system is updated". Until then it's 0220 xxx xxx, according to 2D Cust Serv chap who sounded totally knowledgable. He also checked that the number I want isn't active yet!

In his argument to the Number Administration Deed to assign the entire 022 prefix, Tex Edwards, of NZ Comms (now 2degrees), used the reasoning that they wanted to be able to offer people their existing number but with the 022 prefix if they chose not to port that existing number for whatever reason. It is impossible to do this as it is now.

I hope that it will be resolved soon, and I also hope they stop blocking certain number ranges since they've claimed that the numbers are allocated on "first come, first serve" basis.

Making it the third "opinion" from the call centre documented here today.

1. No definite time frame for release, probably will come drip fed

2. Complete number range availlable today (subject to resolution of technical issues)

3. Released "in the next day or two once the system is updated"

BTW, I forgot to say above that numbers starting 0227, 0228 and 0229 are NOT going to be released, according to the cust serv chap.

To add: 0226 xxx xxx are the ones currently on the released sims, so they aren't likely going to be available either...

I dont know if that CSR has told you the truth or not there as there is a number 022888 8888 listed on Trade me and the bidding on that number believe it or not is up to $3210 at the moment. So I dont think they would only release one number in those higher ranges and not the rest. I am like comradehunt and have a number in the 0229 range I have in mind too so I hope that CSR is wrong about it too.
