New thread to save bombing the other one, who is getting their geek on to watch for the shut down?

My 2nd SIM slot is locked to 2G.

@linux has locked his phone to 2G.

Anybody else?

Post here as you lose 2G and what your location is, I'm curious to see how fast it happens.

Old skool posting using EDGE cause I can. My phone locked to GSM only for the night

Hope 2Degrees technology checks for any 111 calls in progress before locking down 2G circuit switch

Sitting here with the dual sim, seen the second sim flip from full bars to none with an x and back a few times. Now back on signal.

Dang, I missed the party. Tried switching my phone to 2g only. It showed full signal strength (I have LOS to a 2degrees tower) But my phone can't connect to it.

Presumably my local tower is still transmitting 2G signals, but the upstream controllers have been switched off. And guessing someone will visit the tower tomorrow to unplug the 2G equipment.

Edit

North Shore, Auckland.

Didn't quite pan out how I expected with an all day wave across the country so this thread is pretty irrelevant. Unless 2G is still live around the country? If not I'll lock this and we can continue in the other thread https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=85&topicid=223150

Apparently 2degrees shut down in advance of the date on their website. Our alarm lost connectivity.

Might go get a Spark / Skinny SIM instead.

I still had 2G in Wellington and the Wairarapa until today. Maybe your local site did.

You know Spark/Skinny isn't 2G? Only Vodafone is now
