@nathan, can you shed some light about the massive price difference in the first post?

nathan: this is what I pointed to

Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider program

The CSP program allows you to sell Microsoft cloud services along with your own offerings and services. Partners own the complete customer lifecycle through direct billing, provisioning, management, and support.

In addition, the CSP program enables you to:
Create a customer offer, set the price, and own the billing terms.
Integrate service offerings with Microsoft cloud services.
Stay at the center of the Microsoft cloud customer lifecycle.

nathan - so is this like SPLA except that MS doing the actual hosting?  And I assume its limited to apps (so SaaS)?  Might need to look into this as well...

there's loads of products/services across multiple different industries that cost different prices in different geographies.

that's the only thing I can think.

Should do a short course at a uni that partners with DreamSpark.

I didn't realise how expensive all these programs were, I've got keys for nearly every edition of Office and Windows and heaps of other crap (including Project and Visio) that I'll only use once. One of the perks of starting life with a $50K loan I suppose....

I was lucky enough to be able to buy the professional editions of Visio and Project via HUP @ $10ea

Its a shame even a light version of Visio isn't be bundled into Office as it is the perfect solution for many a problem but hard to justify cost if you only use it occasionally
