mdf: TradeMe's TradeRunner product is designed to connect e-commerce and trademe retail channels. Basically you manage product descriptions, pricing and inventory from TradeRunner and it syncs it across your various sales channels. WooCommerce is a listed channel.

ChannelAdvisor will do it too (though for much greater cost).

I found traderunner was quite surprised by the quality of the whole thing for connecting woocommerce to TM I still cant work out how they make money!

I asked if they could go the other way and reply was No

My biggest issue is I dont even understand the logic or implementation of api I am able to create average wordpress sites as its pretty much all plug and play also there market is huge so it is worth while creating a usable plugins that even simpletons can follow.

I own a aliplugin pro browser and wordpress woocommerce product.

It works by going to a page of a product on aliexpress you click a button that says Import to site (or words to that effect) and that then takes that product and dumps it in your woocommerce site as fully operational product. That would be ideal!

However or But

I imagine aliexpress spent thousands making it and they still charge $30 usd for it

We dont have the same "economies of scale" (do I remember that right from economics 101?) here in NZ with Trademe.

I am just throwing this out there as an idea. I have never done this before.

Have you tried exporting your TradeMe listings via CSV and then tried to import it into woocommerce? There is a plugin that does import csv to woocommerce.

You might have to change the csv's structure to make the import into Woocommerce work, but generally it should work.

Sorry for the tardy reply

It was a good 'throw"

I actually download a csv file everyday from Trademe that has all my sold auctions on it and import them into my old filemaker database.

After finding out that traderunner it seems,  want 100's a year for the conduit and I suspect the others do as well. I am going to take another look at importing a csv into woocommerce.

@gnfb I thought TradeRunner was free (since it was developed by/for Trade Me) and you only had to pay the auction success fees. Do they also want you to pay hundreds more for using TradeRunner as well?

Just out of curiosity, are the success fees for business accounts a lot more than personal accounts?

Why is TradeMe's website so awful? It's appallingly slow. It uses huge amounts of RAM. And to top it off my last attempted purchase ended with a 500 error.

This is why I buy from China. Not to mention free shipping and no GST.

And furthermore, how do you contact TradeMe to complain that their website is so awful (although they surely must know)?

Clicking on 'Contact Us' takes me to a help page, and the help page helpfully doesn't link to anywhere with a phone number or email address (or even an online form).

You have to click down a couple of levels of support request to access the e-mail contact form. Trade Me absolutely do know their site is hot garbage but there is little will to actually fix anything (*ahem* categories *ahem*) and hasn't been for a decade or more.

My guess is they're desperately hoping to be bought out by eBay.

Anyway, couldn't be bothered. I emptied my TradeMe cart and bought from China instead. No fee to TradeMe, and no sale for some poor guy in the North Island.

I dont think you would have much luck in changes. Plus they have a monopoly on the "ebay style" market There have been several attempts to break them but no one has.

If you look at the latest contender allgoods.nz they have a really good site but time will tell if they actually make any headway.

Ebay could likely break them in an afternoon if they wanted to but I suspect the size of the market isnt worth the trouble or the investment.

I have found that the NZ market for the "ebay style" is very fickle and a lot of the standard marketing practices dont apply.

anyway BTW

How do you deal with the issue of advertising one thing in two places? If it sold in woo wouldn't trademe ping you for pulling your trade with them? Or do you sell products (ie multiples of) and not one off items?

When we did trademe sales we would allocate stock to trademe, and if we needed that stock because ran out on those allocated for other channels, would just edit the listing into something else rather than withdraw it.

This was just as they were making an API ages ago so we were relying on scraping and injecting javascript onto their pages to do things, market became too crowded on people that liked working for nothing so we gave up before finishing using the API.
