We've had a small number of machines not roll back with our script (nothing happens at all). Rolling these back to 13901.20400 seems to work.

Many thanks for the fix. It took me a bit of time to find out how to use the command prompt to run it.
How can Microsoft make such a fundamental error as to make Outlook useless for millions (?) of users? They need to fix this NOW.
Fix rolling out in the next few hours
Current status: We’ve identified the underlying cause of impact and are applying a fix. This fix will reach all affected users incrementally over the course of the next four-to-five hours. Once users receive the fix, they will need to restart their email client to apply the fix. In some circumstances, users may need to restart their client a second time for the changes to take effect. We expect to complete this process and restore service for all affected users by May 12, 2021, at 3:00 AM UTC.
The little things make the biggest difference.
Espio:
Yes, noticed on 5+ users this morning. We are running the following to resolve till a fix is announced.
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462
5+ clients not working this morning. Batch file, logon GPO, everyone restarted their workstations - and everyone is happy!
While creating logon script, I also disabled auto office updates - company wide - should have done this earlier! Maybe I have to go back to the old WSUS server.
Thanks Espio
@Hiraka when the dust settles, I'd suggest changing your update settings to the Semi-Annual branch and re-enabling.

This store gets worse.
Yesterday Outlook 365 worked fine.
This morning emails are not showing in reading pane.
so i updated office restarted no joy.
I followed MS recommendation to go control panel > program features > microsoft outlook, highlight, click change button and then select repair online.
Wow. the repair removed all office 365 from my computer.
Everything about microsoft is over complicated
I logged onto MS. and followed steps to download all again.
outlook opened up with all the same account settings and emails?
problem still exists, cant view emails in reading pain.
Times like these when i need a reliable email program badly, i start thinking of what alternatives there are
i am just getting soooooo tired wasting hours even days with all this constant MS crap.
I would bet that MS programming engineers have a full time job at MS, constantly working to resolve issues they designed
help????
Odd thing -- daily text email from The Register shows up fine, nothing else. The Register must know a thing or two...
I'm just waiting, enjoying the lack of Important Things to Respond To.

@stuckin1982 please read this thread. You don't need to go beyond the first page.

Installs on different channel and therefore slight variation in version numbering available to online install?
We have a few preview channnel machines here that triggered and similarly would error out or not do anything when trying to roll-back. So just going to sit it out (re-classify them).
Have a select group only on 0-day Patch Tuesdays, and slight delay for others. So catches/caught it in time before pushed.
Certainly denting their SaaS rep each time this happens.

office.com / owa
Outlook is just a local client these days. Everything's available online
Hold down the Ctrl key when starting up Outlook.
This will cause a prompt to start up in safe mode, so some some functionality (and security) is lost (including preview), but it is a quick hack to get it working immediately (though likely not as safe as rolling back to the earlier version or waiting for the fix to arrive).

That didn't work for my initial testing under 2019 and 365. What version of outlook do you have?
Glad it wasn't just me. Wife rang me in a panic as she had an important Zoom meeting and couldn't see the invite link in the mail. Fourtunatly she had excepted the invite and it was in her calender and the link was there. Just got home now and still the same. Starting in safe mode did work
