We've had two calls this morning from different clients.  The symptoms are that Outlook is not showing email content.


I jumped on to one machine and sent myself a screen shot of the issue and typed out a note in the message body.  Interestingly I could see that line of text until I hit ENTER, and then it disappeared.  I could not even select it with CTRL-A.


I suspect this is a brand new issue.... and a third client just called.


Has anyone else seen this so far?  I suspect a bad update, though a 60 second Google has not highlighted anything.  Research time!


 


UPDATE:  Microsoft have reportedly released an update to correct this issue.  Update your office software again.  Instructions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/install-office-updates-2ab296f3-7f03-43a2-8e50-46de917611c5 




[Mod update: this issue is now fixed. You can update Outlook from File | Account for a fix]

I understand that this is after the latest updates have been applied to MS Office? I just updated (MS Apps for Enterprise) and am experiencing the same issue.

Yes, noticed on 5+ users this morning.  We are running the following to resolve till a fix is announced.

 

"C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun\officec2rclient.exe" /update user updatetoversion=16.0.13901.20462

Anyone got anything resembling a workaround yet?

We tried forwarding an email to someone unaffected and the content simply isn't there.

5 calls and counting.  We showed them how to get to their webmail or how to view the message in browser, both work.  My clients don't deal well with excuses like Microsoft is going to fix it.  If anyone finds a way to rectify this please post.

Strangely enough the only email messages I am able to view fully are the ones I have been receiving recently telling me that my Microsoft account is going to be deleted.

@andrewNZ look at @espio 's comment above.  We have tested this manually successfully (it rolls back Outlook to a previous version), and we are looking at automating this.
