Citylink afaik, must check what dns we using tomorrow.

Was advised by me to run tracert and the last few hops fail presumably due to what you're saying about pings set not to reply.

BlakJak: The fun of offshoring stuff, eh guys and girls? :-)

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=10866133

"A number of businesses and schools have been left stranded today after a major outage at IBM's $80 million data centre in South Auckland.A hardware fault is understood to have hit the Highbrook Park data centre about 3am and services were still down as of 4pm."

So offshoring versus local data centre?  Which is best? Do you get a better outcome if the local datacentre goes offline?

(p.s. there are several reports of similar examples from local datacentres over the last few years)

If you keep all your stuff in a _single_ datacentre, then sure.
I've run datacentres professionally so I have a fair clue about both the network and infrastructure dependencies.
At least you'd be able to get a straight answer out of your (local!) contact regarding the nature of the problems here one presumes!

(IBM havn't had a lot of fun in the last little while...)

Not having a single point of failure is a simple concept, but many people aren't willing to pay for it until they've had a major outage.

Ironically there have been a number of my clients complaining about Office 365 in the last 24 hours, similar symptoms to this thread, except connection was rubbish on DTS, and FX networks, but fine on Xtra.

Anyone else?

Again, not enough information about the cause or resolution of the issues.

And Office 365 is down again.
Maybe they are trying to tell me I shouldn't be working at 10:30 pm...
