A bit of a random question but has anyone ever gone through the?universities?to find people (for private sector recruitment) with specific skills and if so what is the process? We are looking to hire a couple of people with very specific skills in the computer?science?field and the usual Trademe/Seek isn't going to get us much I don't think. I had a meeting with a recruitment company who want 19% gross which could be $20k in recruitment fees alone.

I have found the university and lecturers in what seem the most relevant courses. Can I just contact them directly and ask if they can suggest any students? Or is that not the normal protocol?

Anyone ever done something similar?
