Hey guys,
A bit of a random question but has anyone ever gone through the?universities?to find people (for private sector recruitment) with specific skills and if so what is the process? We are looking to hire a couple of people with very specific skills in the computer?science?field and the usual Trademe/Seek isn't going to get us much I don't think. I had a meeting with a recruitment company who want 19% gross which could be $20k in recruitment fees alone.

I have found the university and lecturers in what seem the most relevant courses. Can I just contact them directly and ask if they can suggest any students? Or is that not the normal protocol?

Anyone ever done something similar?

When I was at uni yonks ago we used to use student job search. Unless they are also into the 19% cut the other alternative is to ask the faculty professors to introduce you to their post grads

I once wanted an assistant with specific skills, I just called the department secretary who put up a job ad on a noticeboard. I'm not sure how it's meant to be done, but just give it a go.

Contact the lecturers. We get emails sometimes directly from them with job offers.

My first real job out of uni came from an advert I saw on the department notice board. Turned out they'd hired a few of us over the years and ended up liking the skills/prep the specific course gave the candidates.

As above, what do you have to lose?
