Hi guys,

I'm looking for a new registrar for my .nz and .org domains, preferably NZ based (local economy!), but, must support editing of both IPv4 and IPv6 glue records. Would be nice, but not required, is DNSSEC support.

Currently looking at metaname - any comments?

I just switched my domain to Metaname and it went smoothly. The only issue was I couldn't figure out how to add DNS records without changing the nameserver to Metaname first. I gave them a call (after business hours) and the person on the other end was very helpful. He told me the website doesn't allow this, but that .co.nz updates at 5 past the hour so as long as I make the switch well before then and add the DNS records, there wouldn't be any issue. If you've got any questions about their user control panel, etc, let me know.

Metaname looks like your best bet, if this is accurate http://dnc.org.nz//story/authorised-registrars most registrar's are slack on ipv6 and dnssec support.

Considering many of them provide DNS services for free though, that isn't surprising. There is a risk of using free DNS services though from your domain provider, as was shown when Godaddy had the outage recently. It caused a lot of outages.

Yes domain registration and dns hosting are separate services (though often bundled together).

Thanks for the replies guys, looks like I'll give metaname a go with one of my domains. I host the DNS myself, so my main concern is with maintenance of glue records only.

Most of my domains are on GoDaddy so I'm familiar with their zone editor, but I'm looking for a good NZ based registrar that has a decent zone editor.

Most of my domains are on GoDaddy so I'm familiar with their zone editor, but I'm looking for a good NZ based registrar that has a decent zone editor.

Very good with Metaname, I do my own DNS hosting though but on the domains I don't do DNS hosting the whole interface is very straightforward.

I would say it's far better than NoDaddy.
