Anyone have any experience with local web hosting reseller plans? I'm currently looking at WebFarm or Webbase. Any other? Any horror stories? Any advice? Thanks...!
Use one with Cpanel/WHM. Also check how many backups they do. The better ones do daily, weekly , monthly and offsite ones. The cheapest ones either do just weekly or just daily ones. Although you may not think this is an issue and you backup your own sites daily anyway, if they have to restore data due to hardware failure they will use that backup data to restore it with, and hardware failures do happen. Also you should ask the host how many sites they allow on each server, as they can slow down over time as more sites are added. WHat purpose are you buying it for, eg just for a few personal websites, or is it needed for business use? You should contact a few too just to see how good and fast their support is.
1080p: I use Dreamhost, super cheap and zero issues in three years.
They asked for a NZ one though
Personally I wouldn't use a host that offers the Plesk control panel or their own proprietary control panels, which can be very limited. I prefer Cpanel as it is easy to use, and has a lot of extra features, although I beleive Cpanel has more expensive licenses. The good thing about it is you can easily transfer sites with it between Cpanel hosting providers.
Yes, the Plesk control panel is the one to have. I use NET 24 (Christchurch) for my virtual server, which I could use for re-selling if I wished (Idon't). It's stuffed almost full with my own websites and has always worked just fine. You can even buy extra IP addresses for the account when needed.
