On a whim (aka while bored) I purchased a Linux VPS from a provider in the US to have a play. I've since built it up and reinstalled it a few dozen times and played with various control panels and services. Now I'm looking for suggestions as to what to actually do with it...

I have been contemplating turning it into a file server and using it for automatic backups, or running a VPN through it to access US content (the hosts allows/supports VPN's). I don't need a webhosting platform as I've already got another reliable provider for that.

Any other suggestions/thoughts? Anything dodgy is out (torrents, p0rn, warez etc).

I've got 50 GB storage / 2 GB Ram / 1 Tb bandwidth.

Being on holiday while injured, coupled with an empty CC to play with is a dangerous combination.

Thanks,

Running a VPN or a proxy server to access US content gets my vote :)

1 Tb only? That's not much... Now if it was 1 TB then it is a different story

(1 Byte = 8 bits, therefore 1 Tb = 0.125 TB = 125 GB only)

;)

Ha I was waiting for that post Laughing Thanks for not disappointing me!

Today's plan is to go the VPN route and see how well that works.

Cheers

For any others looking to play around without spending a lot, check out lowendbox for some very cheap deals - just bear in mind, you get what you pay for!
